Your chart, in words

A page from one report, not yours
You run on Yang Fire, and your chart is short on Water. You decide fast, then spend the night re-reading the message you already sent.
At work you tend to do your best where your voice is part of the job. When a role stops letting you make things, you start looking for a new path long before you say so out loud.
Water is your useful element. An evening walk by a river, a slow morning after rain, a blue notebook on your desk: small things like these tend to cool you down.
The chapter goes on. Yours is written from your own eight characters.
- 1 Who you areYour day master, drawn large, and the one trait people notice first.
- 2 Your elements and useful elementWhat runs heavy, what runs thin, and the element that steadies you.
- 3 Love and closenessHow you let people close, and what you do when it gets quiet.
- 4 Work and changing jobsThe setting where you do your best work, and why you change course.
- 5 Money habitsHow you earn, spend and save, and the blind spot your chart suggests.
- 6 Your everyday rhythmMornings, evenings, weekends: the pace your chart keeps.
- 7 Your 10-year luck cyclesYour decades on one line, with the one you are in now marked.
- 8 Your 2026 Fire Horse yearThe year's pillar against yours: what it leans on, what it stirs.

How the 10-year cycles are drawn, and what the work stars mean.

01
What are 10-year luck cycles?
Career luck in saju is read mostly through your 10-year luck cycles, called daeun in Korean. Your birth chart is fixed, but every ten years a new pillar moves in beside it and changes the weather around it. Each cycle has its own stem and branch, read against your day master exactly like the pillars you were born with, so a decade can bring out a side of you that the birth chart only hints at. On this page the cycles appear right under your pillars, and the one you are in now is marked.
The cycles grow out of your month pillar. They step through the 60-pair calendar one pair at a time, starting from the month you were born in. The age your first cycle begins depends on how far your birth sits from the nearest solar term in the direction the cycles run: every three days count as about one year. That is why one person's decades turn at 3, 13 and 23 while another's turn at 8, 18 and 28.
02
Forward or backward, and why gender matters
Traditional saju sets the direction of the cycles from two facts: whether your year stem is yang or yin, and your sex. A yang year with a male chart, or a yin year with a female chart, runs forward through the calendar. A yin year with a male chart, or a yang year with a female chart, runs backward. That is why the calculator asks for gender only here, and shows no cycles if you choose Prefer not to say. It is an old rule from a time that counted two categories; if neither fits you, try both and see which set of decades rings truer.

What the ten gods say about work
The ten gods most tied to work are the officer stars, the wealth stars and the output stars. Look for them in your birth chart first, then notice when a luck cycle or a year brings more of them.
Officer stars, Direct Officer and Seven Killings, are the element that controls your day master. They stand for structure: employers, titles, rules, deadlines and reputation. A chart with a clear Direct Officer often likes a defined role and a ladder to climb. Seven Killings likes pressure and hard targets, and tends to do its best work in competition or a crunch.
Wealth stars, Direct Wealth and Indirect Wealth, are the element you control. They stand for what your effort turns into. Direct Wealth prefers a steady salary and careful, regular work. Indirect Wealth likes deals, commissions, side projects and variety.
Output stars, Eating God and Hurting Officer, are the element you produce. They stand for skill made visible: making things, performing, teaching, writing, building an audience. Eating God works at an easy, steady pace. Hurting Officer is sharper and more original, and often chafes under rigid management, which is why it is linked with freelance and creative paths.
The rest matter too. Resource stars bring study, credentials and mentors; companion stars, Friend and Rob Wealth, bring peers, partners and competition. A decade heavy in officers tends to feel like responsibility and recognition, one heavy in output like expression and craft, and one heavy in wealth like effort and return.
04
Tendencies, not events
A luck cycle describes the weather, not what you will do in it. Two people in the same Seven Killings decade can both feel the pressure; one climbs, the other changes direction. Saju can help you notice patterns: when you tend to push, when you tend to rest, and what kind of work lights you up. It cannot tell you whether you will get a job, a promotion or a raise, and it is not professional advice of any kind. Read your decades as tendencies, not events, check them against your own life, and keep what is useful. This page is for entertainment.
