Check two birth years
A zodiac year starts in late January or February, not on January 1: Chinese New Year calendars switch at Lunar New Year, and saju switches at Lichun, around February 4. If you were born in January or early February, you may belong to the year before.
Six harmonies (六合)
The closest bonds in the Chinese zodiac. Each animal has exactly one harmony partner: Rat and Ox; Tiger and Pig; Rabbit and Dog; Dragon and Rooster; Snake and Monkey; Horse and Goat. The old texts say the two branches of a harmony combine into something new.
Trines (三合)
Four trios of animals four steps apart, each building one element: Monkey, Rat and Dragon (water); Tiger, Horse and Dog (fire); Snake, Rooster and Ox (metal); Pig, Rabbit and Goat (wood). Any two members of a trio are read as a half harmony.
Clashes (沖)
Animals directly opposite each other on the circle of twelve: Rat and Horse; Ox and Goat; Tiger and Monkey; Rabbit and Rooster; Dragon and Dog; Snake and Pig. A clash is read as strong movement and friction between two signs, not as a verdict on two people.
Harms (六害)
Pairs where each animal clashes with the other's harmony partner: Rat and Goat; Ox and Horse; Tiger and Snake; Rabbit and Dragon; Monkey and Pig; Rooster and Dog. They are read as small frictions that build up.
Punishments (刑)
An older, rougher pattern: the trios Tiger, Snake and Monkey; Ox, Dog and Goat; the pair Rat and Rabbit; and the self-punishing Dragon, Horse, Rooster and Pig. The chart marks harmonies, trines, clashes and harms; punishments are explained on each pair's page.
Beyond the birth year
Bias Match's own compatibility calculator scores harmonies, trines and clashes between two people's day branches, the animals in their day pillars. It does not score harms or punishments, which are shown here for completeness.

The text is fixed sentence templates filled in with the classical relation tables built into the Bias Match engine; no AI model generates or rewrites it. Years run from 1948 to 2031 and are worked out from the saju calendar. For entertainment only: the zodiac describes old patterns, not what will happen between two people.
