The tables
Why the pair is rated this way
The Tiger and the Monkey sit directly opposite each other on the circle of twelve, which makes them a clash pair (沖). 寅 faces 申 across the wheel, spring against autumn, and the classical reading is strong movement between them rather than stillness.
They are also two of the three branches of a punishment trio (三刑), Tiger 寅, Snake 巳 and Monkey 申, an old pattern read as friction that comes from inside a group rather than from outside it.
The Monkey is a metal sign and the Tiger a wood sign. In the controlling cycle metal cuts wood, so the Monkey is read as the one who sets limits and the Tiger as the one who pushes against them.
The Tiger rules the spring month that starts around Feb 4 and the hours from 3 am to 5 am; the Monkey rules the autumn month that starts around Aug 8 and the hours from 3 pm to 5 pm.
For comparison, the Tiger's harmony partner is the Pig and its trine partners are the Horse and the Dog; the Monkey's harmony partner is the Snake and its trine partners are the Rat and the Dragon.
Reading
In love, friendship and work
Traditionally the Tiger is brave, competitive and warm-hearted, and the Monkey is clever, playful and inventive. The Tiger tends to bring courage and look for respect; the Monkey tends to bring fresh solutions and look for variety.
In love, a clash pair is the classic opposites-attract match: a strong pull and strong friction, read as movement and change rather than as a bad sign.
As friends or co-workers they tend to keep each other in check, which can sharpen the work as long as neither tries to run the other.

Check two birth years
A zodiac year starts in late January or February, not on January 1: Chinese New Year calendars switch at Lunar New Year, and saju switches at Lichun, around February 4. If you were born in January or early February, you may belong to the year before.
Beyond the birth year
On Bias Match the animal that counts most is not the birth year but the day branch, the animal in each person's day pillar. If two people's day branches are Tiger (寅) and Monkey (申), the compatibility calculator scores that check as a minus, next to five other checks.
The text is fixed sentence templates filled in with the classical relation tables built into the Bias Match engine; no AI model generates or rewrites it. For entertainment only: the zodiac describes old patterns, not what will happen between two people.
