Your chart, in words

A page from one report, not yours
You run on Yang Fire, and your chart is short on Water. You decide fast, then spend the night re-reading the message you already sent.
At work you tend to do your best where your voice is part of the job. When a role stops letting you make things, you start looking for a new path long before you say so out loud.
Water is your useful element. An evening walk by a river, a slow morning after rain, a blue notebook on your desk: small things like these tend to cool you down.
The chapter goes on. Yours is written from your own eight characters.
- 1 Who you areYour day master, drawn large, and the one trait people notice first.
- 2 Your elements and useful elementWhat runs heavy, what runs thin, and the element that steadies you.
- 3 Love and closenessHow you let people close, and what you do when it gets quiet.
- 4 Work and changing jobsThe setting where you do your best work, and why you change course.
- 5 Money habitsHow you earn, spend and save, and the blind spot your chart suggests.
- 6 Your everyday rhythmMornings, evenings, weekends: the pace your chart keeps.
- 7 Your 10-year luck cyclesYour decades on one line, with the one you are in now marked.
- 8 Your 2026 Fire Horse yearThe year's pillar against yours: what it leans on, what it stirs.

How the calculator reads a chart, in five short parts.

01
What is saju?
Saju is the Korean way of reading a birth chart, and this saju calculator works it out for you in English. The word means "four pillars": the year, month, day and hour you were born, each written as a pair of Chinese characters. The same system is called bazi in Chinese. It grew out of the East Asian calendar, which counts time in a repeating cycle of 60 pairs, so every year, month, day and two-hour block has a pair of its own.
Each pair has a heavenly stem on top and an earthly branch below. There are ten stems and twelve branches, and each one belongs to one of five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal or water. Every stem and branch is also yin or yang. A chart is just these eight characters and the way their elements feed, drain and push against each other. The arithmetic is plain; the art is in how you read it.
02
How to read your four pillars
Start with the day pillar. Its top character, the day stem, is called the day master, and it stands for you. Everything else in the chart is read in relation to it. If your day master is 丙, yang fire, then water is the element that controls you, wood is the element that feeds you, and earth is what your fire produces.
The other pillars add layers. The year pillar is often read as your roots and the wider world you grew up in, the month pillar as your working life and the season you were born into, and the hour pillar as your private plans and later years. The month branch carries the most weight, because it sets the season: a wood day master born in spring is well supported, while one born in autumn has to work harder.
Then look at the five elements. The calculator counts them across every visible stem and branch. A missing element is not a flaw; it only shows where the chart leans. Day master strength sums up how much the rest of the chart supports you, from weak to strong, and the useful element is the one that would bring the chart back toward balance.
03
The ten gods, in plain words
The ten gods are not gods at all. They are ten names for the relationship between your day master and each other stem in the chart. Two things decide the name: how the other element relates to yours (the same element, one you produce, one you control, one that controls you, or one that produces you) and whether it shares your yin or yang polarity. That makes five pairs, each with a harsher and a gentler side. Branches get a ten god too, through the main stem hidden inside them.
- Friend
- Same element as you, same yin or yang. Peers, self-belief and a steady sense of who you are. A chart full of Friends likes to do things its own way.
- Rob Wealth
- Same element, opposite polarity. Competitive drive and bold moves. It shares what you have and sometimes takes it, so it is tied to rivalry and team energy.
- Eating God
- The element you produce, same polarity. Easy self-expression, good taste, enjoyment and a steady flow of creative output.
- Hurting Officer
- The element you produce, opposite polarity. Sharp talent, performance and a habit of questioning rules. Brilliant on stage, restless under a strict boss.
- Indirect Wealth
- The element you control, same polarity. Deals, openings and money that comes and goes. It also shows a generous, sociable side.
- Direct Wealth
- The element you control, opposite polarity. Steady income, careful planning and reward that comes from regular effort.
- Seven Killings
- The element that controls you, same polarity. Pressure, challenge and drive. When it is handled well it turns into courage and authority under stress.
- Direct Officer
- The element that controls you, opposite polarity. Structure, rules, reputation and a sense of duty. The classic sign of a defined role or title.
- Indirect Resource
- The element that produces you, same polarity. Unusual learning, intuition and specialist skills. Deep focus that can drift into solitude.
- Direct Resource
- The element that produces you, opposite polarity. Support, study, credentials and care from others. Calm, patient learning.

Special stars
Special stars, called sinsal in Korean, are old shortcut rules: when a certain branch or pillar appears next to another, the chart picks up a named star. They add color to a reading but never outweigh the elements and the ten gods. This calculator checks eight of them.
- Peach Blossom
- Charm and social pull, found from your year or day branch. People notice you, which suits work that faces the public.
- Traveling Horse
- Movement, found from your year or day branch. Travel, moving around, busy schedules and restlessness when life sits still for too long.
- Canopy
- The scholar and artist star, found from your year or day branch. Solitude, study, spirituality and a taste for depth over crowds.
- Nobleman
- Help from others, found from your day master. Mentors and timely support tend to show up when you need them most.
- Goat Blade
- A sharp edge of willpower. Only yang day masters can have it. It brings drive and nerve, and asks you to aim them well.
- White Tiger
- A forceful pillar. Seven stem-and-branch pairs carry it, and it points to intensity and a decisive, all-in streak.
- Kui Gang
- A commanding day pillar. Only five day pillars carry it, and it is read as a strong will and a leader's firmness.
- Void
- Two branches left out of your day pillar's group of ten. A pillar that lands on one feels less solid, so its theme asks for more patience.

Is this accurate?
The math is as careful as we can make it. Your birth time is corrected to true solar time, using the longitude of your birth country's capital, because clock time in most places runs ahead of or behind the sun. The year and month pillars change at the solar terms, not on January 1 or the first of a calendar month: the saju year begins at Ipchun, the start of spring, around February 4. When you give a birth time, the calculator places you on the right side of those boundaries to the minute.
If you don't know your birth hour, you get three pillars instead of four. The calculator assumes noon to find your day pillar, so if you were born close to midnight your day master could be off by one. Anything that needs the hour is left out rather than guessed. The 10-year luck cycles also need your gender, because the old rules set their direction by it.
Careful math is not the same as a promise about your life. Saju is a tradition for thinking about character and timing, not a science, and this page is for entertainment and self-reflection. Use it to learn about yourself, not to make big decisions for you.
